This is the old cast iron lighthouse at Morant Point, the Easternmost tip of Jamaica. A very remote area, reached through mangrove swamps and endless cane fields, and completely beautiful. The 1840s lighthouse, cast in London, is still manned by Jack, and his dog Tamarind ('Tambrin'). After exploring the lighthouse, we all went to Charles and Caroline's gorgeous adopted beach, for camp fires and general beach scampering. I came first in the surfing competition, which I was thrilled with.
Actually I was the only participant, the only person who acknowleged that there was any competition and, if I am to be completely (and uncharacteristically) honest, it was only one of those little boogie board things anyway. But such fun!
