We realised that the children's room would need redecorating (you can see the large cracks in the far wall on the left) so Ant and I spent some time stripping wallpaper in preparation for the plasters to come in. Ant finished off taking the paper off the ceiling and we stood in the hallway to admire our handiwork. There was then a very strange noise, and 1/2 the ceiling fell down, in one enormous chunk of plaster. Obviously it had only been held up by the wall paper. Grateful that neither of us had been actually in the room at the time, it was time to don the hard hat and finish off the job. The picture on the right is the finished children's room, the only really nice one in the house! Their window is being replaced tomorrow with a sliding sash to match most of the rest of the windows. And they will all be white, one day. The brown wood stain is indescribably offensive to me!
