In an attempt to cope with the gloom that we felt on our return, we thought a trip to Brighton and the pier would cheer us all up with its irrepressibly chipper, good-old-fashioned, salt of the earth seaside fun. Ant and I both treasure memories of carefree time spent (separately) eating doughnuts and bringing them up again on rides. Ah, the romance. Etc etc. Needless to say, it was grey, expensive, depressing, shabby and full of mobile generator-powered entertainment operatives and their delightful extended (although probably not extended enough to be gentically advisable) families. Called that on the basis that you can't really say pikey (oops, just did), but if you add 'operative' to a job title, it sounds like a proper job. ? The merry go round was a great hit though!
